Malak El-Kashef’s house was raided and she was arrested on March 6, 2019. She was presented before the prosecution and interrogated under case No. 1739 for 2018, Supreme State Security . She was imprisoned under investigations. She was released on July 15, 2019. It is worth mentioning that Malik is transgender, and because of this the security forces decided to imprison her in solitary confinement. She carries a National ID card that says she is “male,” as she was a man before she underwent a sex change operation. She was placed in solitary confinement for fear of harassment or sexual and verbal violence, if she was placed in the men’s prison. Malik testified that she was subjected to forced examination and sexual harassment in a government hospital. – Violations she was subjected to: – forced examination and sexual harassment – solitary confinement.
