Mohamed Mahmoud was arrested amidst the events of the revolution’s third anniversary in Cairo on January 25th, 2014. He was presented before the prosecution and investigated under case No. 291 of 2014, Abdeen administrative registered under No. 12096 of 2014, Abdeen felonies and No. 1561 of 2014 Cairo downtown total, known in the media as “Mazaleem Wust El-Balad”. He was detained on remand then released. He was sentenced in absentia to ten-year prison on February 26th, 2017. The judgement was appealed and reduced to one year prison and one year probation.
