Security officers arrested Sara Abd Almonem while she was visiting her husband, Khamis Abdeslam, in Al-Qanater prison with his mother, sister and Hanan Badreddine on May 6, 2017. She was presented before the prosecution the following day and was investigated under case no. 5163 of 2017, El Qanater Al Khayriyah Administration. She was charged with belonging to a banned group and bringing contraband to the prison of al-Qanater. She was detained pending investigations and transferred to El Qanater prison. She obtained a release on parole and was released on February 26, 2018.
