Sara Abdullah was arrested on September 17, 2015, when she and her sister were in their car with their father. They were stopped by a police ambush at the exit gate on their way back from Alexandria. They were forcibly disappeared, and their father was released two days later. They appeared two days later and their names were attached to the Niger embassy bombing case. A decision was issued to imprison them, and she was transferred to El Qanater prison. On December 16, 2017, the court decided to transfer Sara’s papers to the Mufti, and then scheduled a hearing on December 30, 2015 to pronounce the verdict. During the sentencing hearing, Sara was commuted to life imprisonment without appeal on June 10, 2019. She remains imprisoned. Violations she was subjected to: – She and her sister were subjected to enforced disappearance for two days, during which she was subjected to severe torture to extract confessions. She was threatened with rape and was held in a room blindfolded and tied to the ground. She could hear the sounds of her sister, Rana, screaming from the pain of torture by electricity. She continued to scream and call her sister but the officers would laugh and tell her that this was just the sound of a cat. Rana still suffers the effects of torture, as her hand cannot move easily. – prevented from visits and other means of communication for months beginning with the Corona crisis.
