Sara Atef was arrested in Al-Hosary Square on December 24, 2013, following an event in front of the University of October 6. She was imprisoned under case 12128 of 2013 1st October Misdemeanor on the charge of demonstration without permit, possession of fireworks, obstruction of a road, encroachment on security, possession of a bladed weapon, and belonging to a prohibited organization. Days after her arrest, the police accused her of writing anti-army and police slogans on the wall of her cell in the 1st October police station, and case No. 5320 of 2014 was made. She was released on January 18, 2014.
