Somaia Khaled was arrested on October 11, 2013 after participating in an event on Abbas Akkad Street in Nasr City on charges of violating security, attempting to kill a protester, vandalizing public property, and attempting to smuggle prisoners. She was released on bail of 500 pounds the next day. She was sentenced in absentia to 4 years in prison and a fine of 5,000 pounds on November 25, 2013. She was also sentenced to another three-year sentence in a case that no one knew when it had begun, when she had been sentenced, or even what she had been charged. – She was arrested again from home on August 17, 2015 with her father and brother.
