Abd El-Rahman Gamal was arrested with others during Alexandria University events in the Natharia complex “Amr Khalaf death event,” on January 23, 2014. He was investigated under the case No.740 for 2014, Beb Ash-Sharq administration, registered under No.11680 for 2014, Bab Sharq misdemeanour. He was charged with joining an illegally formed group, demonstrating without a permit, assembly, show of force and signaling violence, terrorizing citizens and destroying public and private property. The prosecution ordered his detention pending investigations. The case was referred to the Children’s Court in July 2014, which sentenced him to three years in prison on November 26, 2014. The verdict was appealed and he was acquitted on December 27, 2014.
