Security forces of the Ministry of Interior arrested Asem Abdo as a minor, with others on December 1, 2013 amidst the demonstration organized by the “Students Against the Coup” in Tahrir Square. They were investigated under the case No. 12244 for 2013, Kasr-Nile misdemeanour. They were charged with demonstrating without a permit, assembly, show of force, assaulting police officers and destroying state-owned property. He was released on bail of 5,000 pounds on December 5, 2013.
