Dahab Hamid Abd El-Aal

Dahab Hamid was arrested while 9-months pregnant on January 14, 2014, from the al-Khaladawi area of Shubra during anti-referendum demonstrations against the constitutional amendments. She was imprisoned pending case No. 688 of 2014, Al Sahel Misdemeanors. Her daughter was born free. Then she was released on February 15, 2014 and sentenced to one year’s imprisonment on March 17, 2014. After her sentencing, the Public Prosecutor’s Office, under the supervision of the Counselor Wail Husayn, the Prosecutor’s Solicitor General in North Cairo, copied her case papers, and forwarded them to the Minors’ Prosecution. This followed the discovery that she was only 16 years old, which prevents her from being tried before the Criminal Court. – Violations: During her arrest, her health worsened severely. She was transferred from the Amiriya department to the hospital and then returned without solution back to the department – she told her husband when she visited that they were subjected to ill-treatment, beatings and humiliation inside the department – she gave birth in the hospital while handcuffed.
